Choosing an eyeliner used to be such an easy task. A nice, soft, black kohl pencil? Job done! But now, with so many different options on the beauty shelves, how do we choose the right one?

Define your eyes with eyeliner

From kohl and gels to liquid and inks, we’ve never had so much choice. Step forward, make-up artist to the stars Adam Burrell who has lined the eyes of a whole host of A-listers.

Here he reveals his makeup must-haves.

Bobbi Brown Long-wear Gel Eyeliner
This is my absolute must have, applied with the Bobbi Brown Ultra Fine Eyeliner Brush, the colour is really rich and dense and it doesn’t move. Gel is a lot easier to apply than liquid too as you have more control.

MAC Eye Kohl
This iconic pencil is super creamy making it easy to blend beautifully and it’s really pigmented, the perfect kohl to create an amazing smokey eye.

Illamasqua Precision Ink
I love the glossy, PVC like finish this gives for an alternative to the usual gels, liquids and pencils. It has a super fine applicator and once dried it doesn’t move.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil
There’s a load of vibrant colours to choose from and they go on just as strong, I love how long wearing they are, which is rare for an eye pencil.

Rimmel Exaggerate Liquid Eye Liner
This liquid liner is cheap and cheerful but is intense and has staying power. The applicator gives a really precise line. © COVER MEDIA
