When you think of The Body Shop, what comes into your mind? Those cute bath sets so perfect for presents, a comforting sweet smell and mainly, the eternal campaign against animal cruelty.

Founded in 1976 by animal rights pioneer Anita Roddick, the brand, now owned by the L’Oreal group, is known and loved for its passion and perseverance in raising the awareness of animal cruelty within the cosmetics industry.

Well, today they can celebrate with the recent announcement that the Chinese Food and Drug Administration will adopt a new approach to animal testing for domestically manufactured cosmetic products.

Speaking of the news, The Body Shop’s CEO and Chairman Jeremy Schwartz said: “As the first beauty company to take action against animal testing for cosmetics, these reports mark a truly historic moment.  We congratulate the Chinese authorities for this important decision.”
