Before this burst of coloured hair came down the Summer 2012 runways, Katy Perry donned a lavender wig for her California Gurls music video while Rihanna and Park Bom from 2NE1 had bright cherry red locks.

These technicolour locks might be a daring colour choice for some, but if you want to be different and break away from boring and safe shades of brown, you can easily experiment with a clip-in extension in a shocking colour like hot pink.

Highlights at Peter Som.

The global director of Wella, Eugene Souleiman, gave models at Peter Som deep side parted hair and coloured streaks. “It’s kind of sixties, but less ladylike and much more cool,” he said. To accentuate the “cool” factor, he sprayed Wella’s Ocean Spritz salt spray to give hair texture and more of a “raw, Courtney Love kind of feel.”

Full heads of colour at Thakoon.

Tresses at Thakoon were painted pink, blue, green and lilac in reference to India’s Holi festival, where pink powder is thrown over people and into the air to celebrate the triumph of good over evil. The coloured clay powder was painted onto two different styles of hair –a faux bob and double French braid.
