As much as we love our bold and elaborate nail designs, it seems like the “clean girl” manicures are picking up steam in the beauty world this year — and the milky nails trend is proof. Simple, chic and timeless, the milky nails trend has been making its rounds on the internet and it’s spotted on many celebrities which include the likes of Zendaya, Jennifer Aniston and Hailey Bieber.

But what exactly are milky nails you might ask? For starters, the manicure involves painting your nails in a creamy nail colour that lies between white and nude and has a sort of chrome effect to it. It’s really simple and there are no designs involved in replicating the look — which is perfect, especially for time-strapped individuals who are rushing to get their nails done in a flash.

Sure, you could probably get away with a normal white mani, but this look is slightly different because it adds a bit more colour than a sheer nude, and it offers a semi-sheer, hazy finish.

In contrast to manicures which require you to grow out your nails, milky nails actually look good on all nail shapes, be it short or long, coffin or almond, you name it.

Aside from the celebrities, the uptick of the trend has also seen many users on TikTok sporting their own rendition of the look. Amassing over 41.9M views for the #milkynails hashtag, a lot of these users put their own twist on the look, with some doing the milky nails but with a fun pale pink twist, that’s also been dubbed as “strawberry nails”. In fact, Hailey Bieber has traded her signature glazed mani for this look as well.

What we love most about this trend is that it’s not only versatile and looks good on all skin tones, but it’s also easy for you to do it on your own at home too. Essentially, it all boils down to finding the right nail colour.

And while this milky nail trend seems like a trend for now, you can’t deny that this manicure is an easy go-to look and is one of the few trends that will withstand the test of time — you’ll find yourself going back to every now and then.
