Rooney Mara Want to make a statement this Spring? Then why not embrace this season’s edgiest hair trend – the micro-fringe.

More fashion-forward than its lengthier counterpart, it’s a bold style that won’t fail to turn heads.

And as ultra-directional celebs like Rooney Mara (pictured left) and Lady Gaga have proved, it’s a look that can look as sexy as it is edgy.

“This is a very bold, statement-making fringe for the daring divas, not girls next door,” says session hair stylist Marc Trinder.

“Suitable for heart and square face shapes, this has an unapologetic appearance and will definitely get you noticed.”

Thanks to celebrities like Zooey Deschanel and Taylor Swift, fringes have enjoyed something of a revival during recent years.

The red carpets, and indeed high streets, have been awash with blunt-cut bangs, side-swept locks and peek-a-boo fringes.

But in contrast to those ultra-feminine styles, this season’s micro-fringe has more attitude and impact.

And as elfin beauty Ginnifer Goodwin demonstrates, you don’t need to have long hair to make this look work.

So, fancy overhauling your look with an edgy update?

“Ask for a heavy, deep fringe which is as wide as temple to temple and as deep as far back as the crown,” advises Marc.

“You need thick hair for this and if it’s poker straight that’ll be helpful.” © Cover Media
