We know nuts are good for us. They’re packed with good fats and other nutrients that improve heart health and lower cholesterol. Because they’re full of fiber, they also stabilise our blood sugar levels and keep us fuller faster, in turn helping us manage our weight.
But did you know that nuts are good for our skin too? They’re largely rich in vitamin E (protects against toxins), selenium (maintains skin elasticity) and zinc (amps up collagen production).
Brazil Nuts
Brazil nuts contain lots of selenium, which not only improve skin elasticity but also fight off infections from pimples and relieve redness. The natural fatty acids and vitamin E present in these nuts also help increase skin hydration levels.
Pistachios
Pistachios regulate blood sugar levels and keep excess oil at bay, as such diminishing the appearance of acne. The abundance of vitamins A, C and E, as well as the antioxidants minerals of zinc and folic acid, also prevent acne by protecting the skin against free radical damage.
Cashews
Cashews are loaded with selenium and zinc, which together reduce skin inflammation, hydrate the skin and reduce the appearance of scars. Zinc also promotes the healing and cell growth, making it easier for skin to be repaired.
Walnuts
Walnuts boost vitamin B levels, helping you keep wrinkles and fine lines away. They also contain zinc and vitamin E, which also regulates blood sugar levels and reduces the odds of distressed skin.
Almonds
Almonds are packed with a variety of nutrients and reduces swelling and irritation. They’re also full of vitamin E, which keeps the skin hydrated by dilating blood vessels and defends the body against a whole host of skin conditions.
Macadamias
Macadamias are full of vitamin E, which helps wounds, delay signs of ageing and repairs connective tissues. They’re also a great source of vitamin B2, which aids in maintaining the collagen levels essential for glowing skin.
