Everyday eye makeup needn’t be boring. Just ask pro makeup artist and top beauty blogger Katherine Louise who says subtle yet alluring peepers are absolutely a day time look.

“A smokey eye might classically be a night look, but who says it can’t work for the office too?” says Katherine.

But instead of going heavy on sparkle or kohl, makeup obsessive Katherine recommends keeping the look nice and subtle.

“Simplicity is the key to wearing a soft smokey eye in the workplace,” she says.

“For a night out, many reach for black, but for the office, using subtle toned browns, taupes or greys make the look all the more appropriate.

“MAC Satin Taupe or Mystery are perfect hues for this look, as are the Urban Decay Naked Palettes.”

When it comes to blending, Katherine recommends using a fluffy brush like a MAC 217. “Make sure the shadows are fully blended and no harsh lines are visible. Avoid thick swipes of kohl pencil which can smudge easily.

“Instead try using L’Oreal Le Kohl Pencil in Black Sable which isn’t too harsh or black,” says Katherine.

To keep your look in place throughout the day, Katherine swears by eye primer which helps keep powder-based products where they’re meant to be.

“And ensure the rest of the face is flawless – fresh skin and a nude lip will make sure you don’t look too glam at the board room table,” she explained.
