With Spring/Summer 13 just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about next season’s hottest beauty trends. As the weather starts to warm up, it’s time to ditch the dull and go for bright pops of colour. One of the best ways to do this is with a slick of eyeliner in exciting shades, which has already been a big look on the catwalk.

Peter Som worked with bright orange for Spring/Summer 13, sending models down the runway with tangerine-coloured eyeshadow and a slick of eyeliner in a darker hue to accentuate the look. Michael Kors went for a subtle look, favouring a crayon-style pencil to achieve a soft take on the trend. Over at Versace, blue liquid eyeliner was pained across the whole lid, while Moschino worked with the same colour but applied it around the lower lash line.

If you want a bold evening look, liquid eyeliner will help you achieve a clean, precise line with maximum impact. Barry M has a great selection of colours and a pointed, felt tip-style pen that makes application especially easy.

If you’re fair, cobalt blue and pastel green will look gorgeous, while darker beauties can reach for orange or purple tones. Metallic options in bronze and gold will also look great and suit almost any complexion. If you’re going dancing you’ll want a waterproof variety to see you through the night, so head for Urban Decay’s 24/7 range.

The look might seem bold, but it’s also easy to translate into daytime. A smudged take on the trend can be recreated with a pencil eyeliner, such as the twist pens from 2true. The handy crayons don’t need sharpening so are great for on the go and will give a softer feel. Apply in place of your black eyeliner around the inner and outer edges and use your finger to blend. Keep lips neutral and let your eyes do the talking and match the colour of your eyeliner to your outfit for extra feminine chic. © Cover Media
