Why you need to try this new Aqua XL Eye Pencil

BEAUTY REVIEW: Love eyeliner as much as I do? Then you’ll definitely be saying ‘eye’ do to the new Make Up For Ever revamped Aqua XL Eye Pencil

Cast me as the stereotypical Singaporean makeup user, but I love my eyeliner. Whether it’s a powerful wing, a subtle thickening of the lash line or some dramatic under-eye smudging – that one makeup detail just works wonders on me (although to be fair, it’s mostly for my confidence level, and less for my looks).

And when I find a product that I love using, I feel this inexplicable need to let just about everyone know, and lucky you: I have the platform to do just that.

Enter Make Up For Ever’s revamped Aqua XL Eye Pencil. They’ve collaborated with singer Charli XCX to create a vividly eclectic range which features 20 shades; from mattes and shimmers to dark browns and pastel yellows.

So the important question: Does it work?

Believe me when I say I wasn’t expecting much from this. Make Up For Ever’s graphic liner failed to meet my standards for durability, with the product constantly smudging on my upper lid – not the look I was going for. “Eye” am happy to report, however, that any initial scepticism was washed away when the line I drew did not (wash away, that is).

They’re creamy, and extremely pigmented. The pastel blue shade in particular surprised me with how vibrant it turned out.

It’s also worth noting that there was very little tugging on my eyes when I applied it – super important to maintain healthy peepers.

And yes, they last. Running errands for an entire day in the 34 degree heat had very little impact on my overall look.

Should you replace your favourite eyeliner with this product?

I’m not that big on pencil liners in general, I much prefer a gel or liquid formula. So if you’re like me, then this might not end up being your go-to product.

If, however, you just adore pencils, or need a good pencil eyeliner for tightlining your waterline, then definitely check out this new product. It’s becoming quite a favourite of mine.

The Aqua XL Eye Pencil will be available from 12 May, 2016 onwards, and will retail for $36 at most Sephora outlets.
