When Miranda Kerr's Kora Organics first announced that it was coming to Singapore, we were so excited we tried all the products we could get our hands on. We even tried the Heart Chakra Aromatherapy Oil, the beauty product that the supermodel-turned-beauty mogul said helped her through her breakup with actor Orlando Bloom.

The brand's latest launch is the Tumeric Exfoliating Mask, 2-in-1, which is said to declog and detox sebum build-up in pores. It also helps refine skin tone and texture by promoting cell turnover for healthier-looking, glowing skin. While suitable for all skin types, it's said to work best for oily-combination skin.

What's in it and how to use it

Because it works as an exfoliating scrub and mask, many of the key ingredients in the product help encourage healthy skin cell turnover, to combat dull, rough skin. In the long run, it's also said to help diminish the appearance of pigmentation spots and scars.

  • Turmeric brightens and evens out skin tone. It is also said to be anti-inflammatory, which relieves redness and soothe sensitive skin. Plus, it's rich in antioxidants to protect against free radicals
  • Aspen bark has natural enzymatic action. It also inhibits the growth of acne-causing bacteria
  • Rosehip seeds reduce uneven skin tone and pigmentation
  • Papaya enzymes clears congested pores and blemishes by dissolving dead skin cells
  • Peppermint essential oil controls sebum production and combats acne and blemishes. The scent also invigorates and energises

Apply onto damp, cleansed skin, avoiding the eye area. Leave on for five to 15 minutes. Wet your fingers and work them in a circular motion; the exfoliating granules provide a gentle, yet invigorating scrub. Rinse off with water or use a wet cloth for added exfoliation. Use it twice to thrice weekly.

Verdict

Miranda Kerr calls it her 'at-home' instant facial – I agree. My complexion looked instantly brighter after the first use. The physical exfoliating action of the super-fine beads also helped my skin feel softer and smoother. The peppermint was refreshing, even though I only left the mask on for five minutes. Plus, its energising scent coupled with the mildly aromatic turmeric had an instant perk-me-up effect on my mood. I recommend using it in the morning to kick-start your day.

I have oily-combination skin, which tends to become dehydrated when I am stressed. But the mask didn't leave my skin feeling tight or dry; there was no intensive hydrating effect but I didn't have to use a richer moisturiser afterwards – it just felt really comfortable.

After two weeks of using it (I used it every other day because I loved it so much), my skin looked more even toned, brighter and more radiant. I don't have congested skin, even though it gets a little rough and dull when I don't get sufficient sleep. But with regular use of the mask, my skin remained smooth and soft despite several late nights. I can't say for sure if my pigmentation spots faded, but they didn't look obvious even though my complexion had an overall glow and radiance.
