What can beauty lovers look forward to in 2020?

2019 saw the return of monogram on the runways, from designers like Dior and Fendi. And needless to say, it’s only a matter of time before the emblematic logos of designer labels start to flood our vanity.
With Dior leading the pack, the French maison has released news that its Dior Forever Couture Perfect Cushion, will be available in its Dior oblique print.
So come 2020, you’ll not only be able to touch up with the long-wearing, ultra-smooth cushion compact, but also flaunt the limited-edition case.
Act fast, as only 1,000 pieces are available in Singapore.
Also keep your eyes peeled for the monogram version of its now-iconic Dior Addict Lip Glow, which will also be available in early 2020.

We’ve long heard about the health benefits of electrolytes, especially in sports drinks that help replenish our bodies with hydration more effectively post-workout. And as it turns out, the same logic applies to skincare too. Mineral electrolytes like calcium, potassium and magnesium improve water circulation within the skin so that moisture is delivered and retained effectively.
To try: Paula’s Choice Water-Infusing Electrolyte Moisturizer, which is also enriched with other skin-conditioning ingredients like glycerin, ceramides and niacinamide for a fortified skin barrier.
Or try Drunk Elephant’s new F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask, which also contains vitamin F to soothe irritation and maintain a healthy hydration level. Apply it before bedtime and leave it on overnight for plump and dewy skin in the morning.

Anti-pollution has been the talk of the town in recent years. From skincare that keeps fine particulate matter out of skin to products that help protect the skin against blue light emitted from electronic devices, we have seen (and tried) them all.
In 2020, the focus will be about choosing your skincare wisely, starting with knowing your antioxidants and what they do.
Instead of getting hung up over finding the “best” antioxidant, consumers are now starting to learn that antioxidants work best in synergy.
So pick serums and creams that contain a bunch of them. For example, Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Moisturizer is reformulated with Super Lotus, a powerful multi-action ingredient that harnesses the benefits of the entire lotus plant to protect skin against various environmental hazards, boost radiance and strengthen skin resilience.

From caviar to saffron, beauty connoisseurs are no strangers to the finest, most-prized ingredients.
This 2020, even the most discerning women (and men) will be spoilt with Sulwhasoo’s latest ultra-luxe skincare range, the Timetreasure Honorstige line.
Known for its use of traditional Korean medicinal herbs in its products, Sulwhasoo’s latest launch combines red pine, ginseng and a new-to-brand ingredient, the reishi mushroom. While not new to skincare (reishi mushroom is present in Origins and Youth To The People products), the potent combination of precious ingredients help to firm and tighten ageing skin.

Year after year, it seems that beauty brands are focusing on a new star ingredient that promises beautiful skin. After much anticipation, it seems niacinamide has finally “arrived”.
Also known as vitamin C3, niacinamide is no stranger to beauty enthusiasts.
In fact, if you check the ingredients label on your skincare, chances are you’ll see it more often than you realise.
However, it’s finally getting the spotlight it deserves for its ability to strengthen the skin’s barrier function, calm irritation, regulate melanin synthesis and balance the skin’s oil-moisture levels.
To try: Cosrx Mela14 White Ampule, a lightweight gel serum that is easily absorbed into the skin to improve skin health.
