The post-Christmas period will see the release of a host of unusual new beauty products, including Stella McCartney’s truffle-based scent L.I.L.Y, Spicebomb by Vikto & Rolf and Calvin Klein Sheer Beauty.
Here are just some of the new beauty releases you can look forward to in 2012:

UK and Netherlands, then international
Amsterdam-based fashion house Viktor & Rolf will introduce its first men’s fragrance, entitled Spicebomb. As the counterpart to popular female fragrance Flowerbomb, Spicebomb features notes of chili, saffron, leather, bergamot, grapefruit, and pink pepper. The fragrance will launch exclusively January 23 at UK department store Harrods and Bijenkorf in the Netherlands. It will then be rolled out internationally, with a mid-February debut in France and a March 1 launch in the US. www.viktor-rolf.com

Standing aside from the recent dominance of floral and fruity scents in the fragrance market, British fashion designer Stella McCartney recently announced the top note for her latest fragrance L.I.L.Y is truffle. The scent, which features notes of lily of the valley and oak moss, will launch exclusively in the UK at department store Selfridges January 26 before reaching other retailers February 15. It will begin selling worldwide as of March, with a US launch in September at beauty chain Sephora. www.stellamccartney.com

Following in the footsteps of fellow musician Katy Perry and reality stars the Kardashians, rapper Nicki Minaj is the latest personality to work with nail giant O.P.I. Inspired by songs from Minaj’s debut album Pink Friday, names in the six-piece range of lacquers include “Metal 4 Life,” “Fly,” and “Save Me”, with shades including lime green, purple, metallics and glitters. The line will be available at O.P.I.’s US outlets from January before reaching European retailers including Sephora in February. www.opi.com

Following from the success of the 2010-launched Beauty, a new edition called Sheer Beauty hits Calvin Klein fragrance stockists internationally in January. While Beauty was a more timeless scent, Sheer Beauty is aimed at younger women with a floral and fruity composition. The face of the fragrance, which will be available as an eau de toillette in 30, 50 and 100 ml bottles, is rising Dutch model Daphne Groeneveld. www.calvinkleininc.com

French fashion house Dior collaborated with German painter, sculptor, and installationist Anselm Reyle on an accessories line which debuted at Art Basel Miami in December, with the Berlin-based artist also teaming up with Dior Beauty. Following the Art Basel Miami pop-up shop, a violet camouflage eye shadow palette inspired by Reyle’s design aesthetic will be available at Saks Fifth Avenue in January and at dior.com. A selection of five nail polishes in Reyle’s trademark hues (violet, black, silver, pink and blue) will also be available. www.dior.com
