Nichola Joss With a client list boasting the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston and Rihanna, it’s fair to say that self-tanning pro Nichola Joss (pictured left) knows a thing or two about bronzing.

So, who better to dish out whole host of top tips for a glowing, streak-free look?

Here, the St Tropez tan guru – who is responsible for the honey-limbed runway models at Issa, Roksanda Ilincic and Henry Holland – gives Cover Media the heads up on achieving a dreamy faux-tan.

1. Prepare your skin as there is no point in doing anything without a good, clean canvas. Exfoliate and moisturise the night before.

2. Start with covering hairline, eyebrows and nail plates with Vaseline.

3. Use a mitt. Many brands provide them when buying self-tan. It helps you get the right amount of product on your skin.

4. Look at your body and its contours and shape and massage product in the shape of your body. Start above ankles and wrists and massage towards your heart.

5. Use the residue on the mitt to massage your feet, hands, face and neck. These areas are bonier and have different contours than the rest of your body so the product will take to those areas.

6. If you want your tan to last longer and fade naturally, moisturise daily and exfoliate every third day. It will refresh the tan rather than get rid of it. © Cover Media
