Audi Fashion Festival 2012: Beauty Backstage at Roland Mouret 600

We’ve come to the end of the Audi Fashion Festival 2012 with Roland Mouret the closing show on Sunday, May 21.

After days of intense eyes and bold red lips, the models walking for Roland Mouret sported minimalist makeup. The effortless look focused on sheer beauty with skin kept to its purest form, lips stained a shade of plum and eyes painted with brown eyeshadow.

Beno Lim, Senior Artist of M.A.C PRO Team explains the understated look: “This beauty trend parallels fashion’s worldly-aware direction in considering how a nomadic lifestyle can influence the way you pull yourself together … Key shades? Those that pull inspiration from roaming the world – desert rocks, sunset and sepia stains, driftwood browns, weathered tans, sand, minerals, pastoral shades of plum and cranberry, metallic greys from asphalt and concrete through to slate and charcoal – all are employed to give a soulful depth to lids and lash lines.”

We love that this relaxed look emphasises one’s natural beauty and it’s also easy to create.

To give skin a healthy glow with a dewy finish, Beno starts of by using the lightweight M.A.C Studio Sculpt SPF 15 Foundation. He then sets it with M.A.C Prep+Prime Transparent Finishing Powder and highlights the T-zone area (brow bones, nose bridge and under eye) with M.A.C Strobe Cream. To hone the face, Beno uses M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Dark on the cheeks.

To give more depth to the eyes, Beno uses brown eye makeup to create shadows. He does this first by applying M.A.C Paint Pot in Groundwork on the eyelids as a base, focusing more on the crease. Next, he uses M.A.C 224 Tapered Blending Brush to apply M.A.C Eye Shadow in Charcoal Brown over the lid, just to create a shadow. No eyeliner is required for this look, but to give the eyes slightly more definition, dab M.A.C 219 Pencil Brush in M.A.C Eye Shadow in Charcoal Brown before tracing over both the upper and lower eye line. Curl the lashes and complete the eyes with a stroke of M.A.C False Lashes mascara.

For that plum pout, prep the lips with M.A.C Lip Conditioner before applying M.A.C Lipstick in DIVA with M.A.C 217 Blending Brush. By using the Blending Brush, which is fluffier than a normal lip brush, it creates a softer colour to portray a stained effect. Beno’s tip for creating faintly stained lips is to dab lip colour on the lips using your finger.
