If you’re too lazy to drag your soul case out for a sauna, do a little DIY facial steam at home to treat your pores. Mix two tablespoons of baking soda with one teaspoon of water into a paste and massage your skin in circular motion for about a minute to exfoliate. After rinsing the paste off, bring the water to a boil, remove from heat and add the herbs to the water. Place your face about 12 inches from the water and lay a towel over your head to create a tent. Give it a steam for five to 10 minutes to open your pores.

2. Drink herbal teas

As traditional as it sounds, drinking herbal tea is efficient in speeding up the detoxification of your body. Having a selection of skin-loving herbal teas such as dandelion, elderflower, calendula, red clover and goldenseal can help you to chug more water with the help of a hint of flavor plus benefit of herbs. With that, your body can flush out unwanted toxins to foster beautiful skin.

3. Let your skin breathe

Opt for a light moisturiser that doesn’t clog your pores to create a barrier to block out impurities and top up hydration level of the skin. If you really need some coverage, use an oil-free tinted moisturizer instead.

Honestly, exercise is the cure of almost all the body issues and skin problems. Daily exercise ensures healthy circulation of blood and your skin can detox through sweat. Not really a gym-goer? Head out for brisk walking for about 20 minutes each morning. Go for a jog, a hike, yoga or a tabata workout if you’re an active person for a quick sweat!

5. Epsom salt bath

Epsom salt is a crystal form pure mineral compound that can help detoxify and soften the skin. Mix a cup of Epsom salt in warm water and submerge yourself in it for a good 20 to 30 minutes. While it clears out pollutants from the pores of your skin, it also helps relieving stress, soothing muscles as well as replenishing your body’s magnesium levels. Create your own salt scrub if you wish to save some time (and water). Make a concoction of 1/2 cup of Epsom salt, 1/2 cup of coconut oil and the juice of one lime or lemon. Keep it in a jar and use it once or twice a week depending on your skin’s needs.

6. Mind your diet

You are what you eat – after all the hard work you’ve done, eating is the crucial part to achieve radiant skin. Avoid consuming trigger foods such as dairy, sugar and coffee during your skin detox. Add more greens and fresh fruits in your diet plus sugar-free juices and if you have sweet tooth, you can probably have some smoothies to fix your craving!
