The Award: Best All-In-One Anti-Ageing Treatment
The Winner: Mendis Aesthetics – Laser Skin Rejuvenation
This non-ablative Mosaic laser uses micro fractional resurfacing technology to refresh skin, reducing the appearance of signs of ageing – from wrinkles to skin laxity – and even post-acne scarring, while healing sun-damaged skin.
Interesting fact: Unlike traditional lasers that deliver the same heat energy at a particular depth, the Mosaic laser uses an exclusive patented technology that delivers randomised microscopic laser beams of multiple ranges into skin. That means the intensity of the laser is adjusted according to the problem areas – for instance, using a higher intensity to resurface areas with bigger pores, like the nose and its sides.
This constant recalibration means the heat energy is able to reach deep into skin without affecting the surrounding tissue, which results in less downtime. The treatment costs $1,070 per session.
What Happened After We Tried It
“After a consultation with Dr Rohan Mendis, medical director of Mendis Aesthetics, I was ushered into a treatment room where numbing cream was applied. I was left to wait for 20 minutes for it to take effect, after which, the numbing cream was removed and a thin layer of facial oil was applied. This is meant to help the Mosaic laser wand glide easily over skin during the treatment.
Dr Mendis was very conscientious during the procedure, and even passed the laser not only on the face, but all the way down to the neck too.
After the session, a thick cooling gel was applied to minimise any redness or potential swelling. The extra 20 minutes was well worth it, as I walked out of the clinic with only the slightest flush of pink.
My complexion was immediately brighter and clearer, and my pores looked smaller too. It was definitely an improvement to my pre-treatment complexion – oily T-zone, old acne scars, enlarged pores, pigmentation, uneven skin tone, skin laxity and sun damage.
But the most amazing part was that there was hardly any pain during the procedure. I did a laser treatment six years ago, and it was a painful experience despite having had topical numbing, as well as oral and injected painkillers. Plus, there was redness, rawness and scabbing.
In comparison, the Mosaic laser had a mild tingling sensation during the treatment and only started to feel a little warmer towards the end, which was very bearable.”
