4 tried and tested cleansersEveryone knows the importance of taking off your make-up at the end of the day. As well as serving as a way to cleanse and remove the dirt from the day, there are some that promise to give you radiance or even turn back the clock. But when it comes to which do the job of cleansing best we’ve put some to the test.

Kinara Rehydrating Cleanser – 4/5
Kinara is the brainchild of renowned US facialist and skin care expert Olga Lorencin Northrup, who owns spa to the stars Kinara Skin Care Clinic in the heart of West Hollywood. Olga was driven to create a product that effectively but not aggressively rids your face of dirt and grime.

We found this is kind to sensitive skin and doesn’t irritate complexions. It works well at eliminating debris from the face, cuts through make-up and even helps cleanse the face from long-lasting eye make-up. This is good for dry or sensitive faces as it also hydrates and soothes the skin after use.

Collin Resultime – Micellar Radiance Cleansing Water – 3.5/5
Having previously experienced dry skin after using stringent cleansing waters, I was sceptical about this three-in-one product. Before I used it for the first time, I thought it might sting and leave my face feeling tight and dehydrated. After applying the product to the face and neck using a cotton pad as instructed, my skin felt fresh. I also noticed it removed traces of make-up which are sometimes left by my usual face wash.

However, I do have sensitive skin and I soon found myself reaching for my usual moisturiser after my face began to feel a bit parched.

I would probably use this again, but as it pitches itself as a product to remove make-up, cleanse and tone in one easy step, I’ll probably keep it in my gym bag rather than incorporate it into my daily routine.

Natural Empathy – Clean and Green cleanser – 4/5
As soon as you smell this cleanser, you realise you’re using a luxurious product. Zesty and light, it works well to wake you up in the mornings. The consistency is a little strange to get used to at first as it doesn’t lather up, but it does the job and leave skin clean and moisturised.

Natural Empathy Cleanse and Perfect – Natural Face Cleanser – 4/5
Celebrities like Miranda Kerr have been banging on about natural skincare for years, but it’s still difficult to find chemical-free products that tick all the boxes.

British skincare range Natural Empathy comes mighty close. Their mineral-rich white clay-based cleanser feels luxurious on the skin, and the blended notes of frankincense, orange oil and lemon essential oil is heavenly on the nose – our noses at least; some people may find the scent a little overpowering.

The skin feels sufficiently detoxified after washing off this product. We don’t feel ten years younger, but it’s nice to know that the cleanser’s natural ingredients are chock-full of anti-ageing properties.
