Nothing makes your face feel more fresh and bright than a good facial scrub, and what could be more appropriate than some Christmas-themed facial scrubs that you can easily make at home! Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Lush and Body Shop and all the other amazing brands that offer scrubs, but making these scrubs is fun and have a personalised touch. Here are four delightful holiday-themed scrubs for a Christmassy glow.
Minty candy cane scrub
This scrub is absolutely refreshing, and it’s good for helping you wake up in the morning and walk out looking and feeling fresh.

What you need:
½ cup of coconut oil (or any other oil or your choice, but I personally recommend coconut oil)
1 cup of granulated sugar
Peppermint extract
Green/pink food colouring
Vitamin E oil
Mix the coconut oil with the sugar. If you prefer a coarser scrub, add more sugar, and if you want it smoother then add less sugar. Play around with the consistency to your preference!
Add peppermint extract to preference, as well as vitamin E oil.
Next, drop in a bit of food colouring. If you want green, go light, as we want that very light, minty colour. If you go with red you can really play up the ‘candy cane’ theme. You can skip this step if you want, but I like having a bit of that holiday aesthetic (especially if you’re planning to make this as a homemade present for someone).
Pumpkin spice latte scrub
We can’t say that this is a holiday-themed list of scrubs without including pumpkin spice! You have to admit that pumpkin spice smells totally Christmassy.

What you need:
½ cup of coconut oil
2 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice
Vanilla extract
Vitamin E oil
Mix the coconut oil with the brown sugar. Again, if you prefer a coarser scrub, add more sugar, and if you want it smoother then add less sugar.
Add the pumpkin pie spice, vanilla extract and vitamin E oil. You’ll notice that I advise adding in vitamin E oil, as it’s an antioxidant and a wonderful nutrient for skin.
Honey and gingerbread scrub
Gingerbread just screams Christmas, so of course I just had to add this in!

What you need:
¼ cup sweet almond oil
¼ cup raw honey
1 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1-2 teaspoon(s) of ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix all the dry ingredients together first, and then add the liquids in while mixing well. For this particular scrub I decided to use a mix of almond oil and honey, as raw honey is antibacterial, full of antioxidants and super moisturising. It’s probably better than vitamin E oil, except that it’s slightly sticky! This scrub probably smells the best, and it’s edible too (which means that it’s safe for kids and can double as a lip scrub!)
Spiced cranberry and oatmeal scrub
This is especially great if you have leftover cranberry sauce from your Christmas dinner! This scrub is for anyone who loves to smell super sweet and good to eat.

What you need:
½ cup of honey
1 cup of dry blended oatmeal
½ cup granulated white sugar
½ cup blended cranberries
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Start by checking the oatmeal to make sure that it’s not too chunky and coarse. If it is, dry blend quickly. Mix the blended cranberries, oatmeal and sugar, and then add honey and cinnamon. Mix well and add more oatmeal if the scrub is not coarse enough.
