Unique whitening skincare products to look out for.jpg

Get whiter, brighter skin by using these products and their different applicators.

Applicator with a metal roll-on tip
Sisley Phyto-blanc Intensive Dark Spot Corrector, $200.

Overall brightening skincare won’t rid pesky dark spots as fast as this targeted treatment does – we saw results in four weeks. It has a blend of barbary fig blossom extract, salicylic acid and glycerine to exfoliate and moisturise dark spots so that they fade more quickly. Plus it comes with a metal roll-on tip, making it really hygienic to use.

Dual-sided cotton pads
Laneige Clear C Advanced Effector, $56.

To be used as the first step of your skincare routine, this acerola-and-acai-berry-packed essence booster supposedly prevents the formation of pigmentation and freckles over time. For better results, apply this using the specially designed dual-sided cotton pads (each bottle comes with a box of 60 pieces) – the slightly coarser side should be used in the day to remove dead skin cells, while the softer side should be used at night to supposedly help deliver the active ingredients deeper into skin.

For the cheeks only
Chanel Le Blanc Brightening Cheek Mask, $125 for six sets comprising two masks each.

This product doesn’t come with a special applicator, but it’s unusual because it’s a sheet mask that’s meant for the cheeks only. Our tester tried this before a wedding dinner and it gave her cheeks a rosy glow, thanks to the pink berry oil in its formula, which stimulates microcirculation. With continued use, the mask reduces the appearance and reportedly prevents the formation of dark spots, which usually are the first to show up on the cheeks.
