Christian Dior Parfums Capture Totale Concentrated Serum, $265

The promise: The concentrated formula is a part of the brand’s newly reformulated Capture Totale anti-ageing range. It claims to reach the deepest cells in the skin that are responsible for rejuvenation. The serum supposedly smoothens and firms the skin while giving it radiance.

Review: This serum has a light, clean scent and leaves my skin looking matte. My skin feels slightly firmer and brighter after I massage the serum into it.

Lancôme Absolue Precious Essence Sublime Regenerating Oleo-Serum, $360

The promise: The new addition to the brand’s premium Absolue range contains Pro-Xylane, a patented molecule derived from Xylose, a sugar extracted from beech, birch fibres and bark that promises to regenerate skin.

Combined with citrus essential oil, camellia and babassu oils, the concoction supposedly tones and strengthens the skin’s barrier, giving your face a glow from the first application.

Review: Spreading this pearlescent, rose-scented serum on my skin is a pleasure. Best for those with normal to dry skin, the oil-based formula is absorbed easily and leaves the skin slightly dewy, not greasy. I like to use it as a base under my sunscreen and foundation to give my skin an added glow.

The rich texture makes it ideal for a quick facial massage, which helps to make my skin feel firmer.

SK-II LXP Ultimate Perfecting Essence, $399

The promise: Launched this month, the essence is part of the brand’s new premium LXP (which stands for Luxury x Pitera) collection.

The range contains the highest concentration of Pitera – a rice wine extract that is the brand’s star ingredient – in the whole SK-II line. This essence promises smoother, firmer and more hydrated and translucent skin, as well as fewer wrinkles.

Review: I’m a fan of SK-II’s Facial Treatment Essence (FTE) because it keeps my skin looking clear and bright. The Ultimate Perfecting Essence, which, to me, is a souped up version of the FTE, does not disappoint. My skin looks brighter and smoother than usual from the third application.

SK-II LXP Ultimate Perfecting Essence is available from all SK-II counters in Singapore.
