3 hair strengthening tips
Long, lustrous hair is having a fashion moment.

Super-straight hair stormed the Spring/Summer 13 shows – with glossy, glass-like tresses complementing the clean lines at Céline, Giambattista Valli and Pucci, to name just a few.

But while the lengthy trend might be this season’s hottest hair do, it’s not exactly a quick one to pull off.

It can take months, if not years, to grow your locks to a suitably runway-ready length.

But thankfully, there are plenty of ways to encourage your hair to grow.

And even if it takes you a while getting there, the pay-off will be gorgeous swishy locks.

We caught up with award-winning hairdresser Darren Ambrose to find out his tips for encouraging long, strong hair.

“If you want gorgeous runway-ready long hair, the first thing you need to do is to book in at your hairdresser for eight weekly trims to seal the ends,” says Darren.

“Then book in to have regular in-salon treatments. These will give a longer lasting coating on the hair as they’re massaged on and put under heat to take effect.

“Treatments are perfect for strengthening weaker hair,” he adds.

So, what products does Darren rate?

“Moroccan Oil and Wella Lux Oil are great for surface strength and they give fabulous shine too.

“You can also help hair growth with oral supplements such as silica, horsetail capsules, and shark cartilage tablets which are all great for inner strength,” he adds.

So, it might sound contrary, but there you have it – the best answer to lovely long locks is actually organising a regular snip. © Cover Media
