It's no surprise that gold is one of the most widely used precious metals. Not only does it look good on us, it is also non-allergenic and chemically inert, and reportedly has good-for-skin properties, which explains why it is often used in facials and skincare – Hollywood celebs have reportedly shelled out thousands for gold facials and some of the most luxurious anti-ageing skincare products boast this ingredient.
And now, it seems that gold has even made its way into nail care. Sally Hansen’s latest collection, the 18K Gold range – which currently comprises two affordably priced nail-care products that are said to strengthen and beautify your nails – is infused with 18K gold. Here's how to get luxe-looking nails in three simple steps with the 18K Gold collection.
AND BUFF YOUR NAILS WHILE YOU'RE AT IT
This handy pen-shaped product, which has a nibbed exfoliator that does double duty as a nail buffer and cuticle pusher, houses a gel formulated with 18K gold and moisture-trapping humectants to improve the look of rough, ragged and dry cuticles.
To use, first unscrew the gold-coloured portion and squeeze the tube to dispense the gel onto your nails. Then, replace the gold-coloured portion and use the nibbed exfoliator to massage the gel into your nails and cuticles. Thanks to the quartz particles in the gel, which gently remove any remaining dead skin while buffing the nail surface, your nails will look brighter, smoother and healthier.
The 18K Gold Hardener, which can be used as a base coat or on its own, is formulated with peptides, amino acids and 18K gold, and promises to strengthen weak and brittle nails.
The streak-free formula dries in 60 seconds, and leaves nails strong and shiny.
