2 best facials for pore and acne main.jpg

Clears up skin and fades scars
I don’t break out a lot, just during that time of the month, but when I do, the breakouts leave me with acne scars that take forever to fade. At The DRx Clinic, I was recommended to try the Dual Yellow Combi Laser ($300 for 15min, for a first trial), a gentle laser that’s said to soothe skin, reduce redness, fade pigmentation spots, kill acne-causing bacteria and boost collagen production. The great thing about this laser is that it’s relatively painless – you feel just a mild pinching sensation that disappears quickly. The result? My complexion looked smoother and slightly plumper. – Amanda Lai, beauty writer

Minimises the look of pores
My biggest pet peeve when I go makeup-free? Enlarged pores. So I tried the Pore Loser Facial at Spa Esprit at Beauty Emporium ($214 for 75min). It started with a double cleanse, after which my therapist used a facial steamer on my skin. This was followed by a light extraction to decongest my clogged pores, the application of an oil-controlling Alpine rose stem cell complex, a skin-balancing ampoule and an anti-aging cream. I especially loved the 15-minute shoulder, neck and scalp massage at the end of the treatment. After the facial, my skin looked clearer and more even-toned, and my pores looked less obvious. – Jaclyn Gunasilan, senior beauty writer
Spa Esprit is at Beauty Emporium, #02-01 House, 8D Dempsey Road (tel: 6479- 0070).
