What do a history buff, a local ang moh expat and a Singaporean living in South Africa have in common?

Well, it turns out that they are all bloggers in their own right. And mighty fine ones as they have just been announced as winners at this year’s Singapore Blog Awards.

Jerome Lim, Peter Breitkreutz and Karen Lim were joined by eight other winners at the Singapore Blog Awards 2011, held at Shanghai Dolly at Clarke Quay on July 23.

Jerome walked away with the Best Photography Blog award for his take on nature and history in his blog, while Peter was awarded with the Best What-The-Hell Blog for his expat tales and Karen, who has lived in New Zealand and South Africa as an expat wife, came in first in the Get Your Sexy Back Best Lifestyle Blog category.

While some skeptics maintain that not all bloggers are worth a read, these winners are definitely click-worthy, by a mile. We are blown away by the amazing pictures taken by Jerome, enthralled by the foreign adventures as told by Karen and can’t help but laugh out loud at some of Peter’s posts.

Organised by omy.sg, the Awards honoured “new-age wordsmiths” who devoted their time and energy to creating and maintaining informative and innovative blogs.

The ten winning bloggers received their prizes from Guest of Honour, Major-General (NS) Chan Chun Sing, Acting Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports and Minister of State, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts.

Not only are these accolades validation for the work that they put in, but they are an awesome reward, as they each earned for themselves a trip to Melbourne, Australia, with air tickets and accommodation paid for by the Tourism Victoria and Jetstar, in addition to a trophy specially designed by Cultural Medallion winning artist Mr Tan Swie Hian.

The winners were determined via public voting, as well as scores given by a panel of 13 professional judges. Over a period of three months, more than 1000 blogs registered for the Awards and over 70,000 votes were cast to vote for the finalists.

Check out the blogs and other finalists at http://sgblogawards.omy.sg and you may very well be inspired to start your own.
