We know you'd like to sit back and relax with a glass of wine after having selected your dream wedding gown. You've narrowed down from all the endless choices available and finally found the one, but your job is not done. For the dress to do you justice on your big day, it's essential for you to go through with the wedding dress fittings as well. Being well-prepared for your fittings will ensure a smooth, and fun experience instead of what could potentially be a stressful one. Here, we've rounded up some things to note and to prepare for.
Melissa Tan of Haute Atelier Group, which manages the Vera Wang boutique in Singapore, says, "You should be able to move around and sit with ease. It's the biggest day of your life after all and you don't want to be restricted by your dress. If you're planning an after-party and not changing into another dress, it should also be comfortable enough for you to dance in." Pick a dress that looks and feels good on you. Being uncomfortable would affect the experience of your big day. While it may seem a little silly, we'd suggest testing different movements while you're in the dress at the fitting.

If you're opting for a low or open back, make sure the gown doesn't gape at the side of the bust. Same process applies –move or walk around for testing. If necessary, you can always add a pretty embellished strap to hold the sides in place.

Don't bring your flip-flops! This determines the right gown length for your heel height - you don't want to be tripping over your dress on your special occasion! No time for shoe shopping before the fitting? Bring a pair of heels with the same or similar height as what you'll be planning to wear.

They won't affect the fit of your gown but allow for you to have an idea of how everything will look on the big day, and also give you enough time to shop for new ones if they don't go well together. It's not just about the dress, but the whole look as well.

"Wear the same undergarments," Melissa says. This ensures the same feel and fit on the actual day.

We can't emphasize on this enough – strapless bustier gowns must fit you well. You don't want to be yanking up your dress all night. Or if it's too tight, you might wind up with unsightly back bulge.
