Want to be a royal bride like Meghan Markle? You've to be kidnapped first

As part of her wedding prep, the former actress had to go through an enactment of a hostile situation.

For most of us, wedding prep includes tidying up the guest list, deciding on the wedding decor but when you're Meghan Markle, it also includes undergoing a simulated kidnapping.

That's part of the package when you're marrying one of Britain's royals.

According to British newspaper The Daily Express, Meghan Markle (and so did Kate, as well as the late Princess D) had to go through an enactment of a kidnapping situation, which involved the Royal Army - and live ammunition.

“The men enact a kidnap situation, during which she will have been treated as a hostage, with the area being stormed by the SAS. She will also have been advised how to develop a relationship with her kidnappers, which is often far better than trying to escape.”

“She will have been shown how to deal with situations when things go wrong, for example if her close protection officer gets shot and she has to fend for herself,” a former senior Army officer told the newspaper.

And this is after a series of lessons in protocol and training the former actress has had to go through, including getting baptised, properly addressing dignitaries and extended members of the royal family, and even learning how to wave correctly.

Marrying a royal isn't quite the fairytale we all think it is, after all.
