From The Straits Times    |

Marion Croteau, 26, and Marc-Andre Seguin, 33, from Montreal, Canada, made it official with a destination wedding in Singapore that was attended by 35 of their loved ones.

We met in 2009 at a mutual friend’s party and have been together ever since.

We wanted a destination wedding and chose Singapore because this was where Marc-Andre completed his Masters in law, and I fell in love with it after visiting it a few years before we’d considered marrying here.

Our wedding was held on the Naumi Hotel’s rooftop, we exchanged our vows at sunset, and then had evening cocktails and a late-night pool party with free-flow alcohol.

Singapore’s skyline was an incredible backdrop for our celebrations! Guests still have great memories of the evening, including the murtabak that was delivered in the middle of the night!

Gold, yellow and blue were incorporated into their wedding decor and details.

Postcards with best wishes from guests were hung around the poolside reception.

To both their surprise and pleasure, 35 of their friends and family made the trip from Canada for their wedding.

Funny story: “Marc-Andre’s ring nearly ended up in the pool and everyone nearby were ready to dive in. Luckily, Marc-Andre’s father caught it in mid-air.”

“The view of the skyscrapers combined with the soft light from the paper lanterns hanging in the breeze was simply magical for us.”

Guests were asked to come in their black-tie best.

Since we live in Montreal, a wedding that was a world away would not have been possible without a wedding planner.

Another wedding tip would be to respect your budget. Weddings can be overwhelming and pricey if you are not careful. Don’t be afraid to let your planner know if anything is too expensive.
