“We met at work here in Singapore. I was new to the company and our relationship blossomed soon after he helped me to find a place to stay,” Angela shares.
Their wedding incorporated their traditions as well, with Angela hailing from China and Shinsuke from Japan.
“For our wedding, we wanted white and dusty pink as their main wedding colours, but did not want the decor to be overtly cute”, added Angela.

“Shinsuke proposed to me while we were watching the SG50 fireworks from Marina Bay Sands’ infinity pool deck.
He produced a heart-shaped diamond ring and asked me to be his wife. The ring box had LED lights and the diamond was stunning.”
Angela’s bridesmaids were dressed accordingly to the dusty pink colour palette with floor-length dresses in pleated chiffon and tulle.
Having a fun moment with his boys.
“At first, we wanted a simple, intimate wedding. Then we decided we should splurge a little as we had many guests from Japan and China, and we wanted them to be well taken care of.
So, when I told our wedding planner Sharol Pek of Eternal Emotion Weddings that I loved pretty lights, she suggested pink lighting, fairy lights and candles for our dinner at The Straits Room. They really added to the ambience of our wedding.”
The couple had a customised Japanese-Western fusion menu and Singapore Sling as a welcome cocktail for all their guests.
Every table had these light pink roses and mini candlelights in glass jars, lending a romantic and sweet air to their celebrations.
A toast with their all of their guests, many of whom made their way from Japan and China.
They were each given a rose shaped candle and these were lit up for an even more special atmosphere during the toast!
Cutting into their massive one-metre wide strawberry shortcake wedding cake.
“Shinsuke and I fed each other a spoonful of cake as a promise that we would take care of each for the rest of our lives.
We made it more fun by doing so with a huge spoon Sharol shipped in just for us.”
“One of the most memorable moments was the sake barrel-breaking ceremony to symbolise the start of our new journey together, and for prosperity.
The sake actually splashed onto our faces as we broke the top of the barrel!”
