"From being able to wear the same qun kua my mum wore for her wedding 32 years ago to feeling the presence of my beloved late grandmother as I put on the necklace she left me, and tearing up as my aunt Dawn Yip sang a song to bless our marriage, there were many moments I was especially thankful for," shares Cheryl.

She complemented her qun kua with lavish gold and silver embroidery with equally ornate headpieces.
The bride travelled in a sedan carried by the groomsmen.
Later, after the ceremonies, her husband carried her into the bridal room – a moment they both found especially meaningful.

An elaborate set-up of hanging jewel-toned blooms was one of the main backdrops where guests took their photos at with the couple.
The bridesmaids wore red with mandarin collars-cum-chokers.
The modern theme of their lunch reception was inspired by the vibrant colours of a peacock.
Cheryl’s father, Mervin Wee, holds a red umbrella to symbolically ward off any negative elements as she leaves her home with Roy.
“I fell in love with the white Degmar gown by Vera Wang during a private trunk show in Vera Wang London. I tried it on and didn’t want to take it off! I told Roy and he bought it for me,” Cheryl recalls.

"An indescribable sense of happiness came over me when Roy first entered my room during the gatecrashing. I felt this keenly again as I made my way down the aisle towards this man I’ve been with for the last 12 years.
I'll never forget the look in Roy's eyes as my dad handed me over to him. At that moment, there was nothing more I could have asked for," shares the bride.

"I told my mum: “I never knew I could be this happy in my life, and I don’t even think I deserve this much.“
I believe that a lot of the extra grandiosity and generosity we experienced during our wedding were due to my late grandmother’s prayers for us," says the actress.
"Before we met with Harijanto Setiawan of Boenga Flowers & Designs, I only knew I wanted the colours to include blush and champagne, and that roses and hydrangeas had to be part of the flower arrangements.
Inspired by my ballet background and our love story, [Harijanto] suggested a whimsical fairy-tale concept, which I totally loved.
Personally, after sharing my preferences, I prefer to leave it to the pros, so that we can work together without cramping each other’s style," says Cheryl.
The resplendent ballroom set the ambience for the musically-styled dinner programme that had the couple singing and dancing for their guests.
Their towering 5-tiered wedding cake from Bengawan Solo was just one part of their lavish stage set-up that included a functional grand stairwell.
The bride’s parents took to the stage to kick off the banquet’s festivities.
Cheryl also wore a custom Vera Wang gown in a one-off colour. “I was amazed that it was made for me before the collection was even officially launched,” says Cheryl.
"Roy was every bit the supportive fiance, and so patient and accommodative to my needs.
I also received plenty of hands-on help from my wedding planner Clare Yuru of Bliss Pact and Benjamin Tan of Dick Lee Asia, as well as my mum and aunts who worked on the wedding night after night.
This community of support allowed me to not sweat the small stuff. A huge thanks to my mum for holding up the sky and moving mountains for me, so I could enjoy the entire wedding journey!" Cheryl shares.
