Real weddings with real ideas! Be inspired by these fresh themes that brought the extra fun to their celebrations for their guests.
From a Shanghai retro night to a Alice in Wonderland ballroom banquet.
"Before we met with Harijanto Setiawan of Boenga Flowers & Designs, I only knew I wanted the colours to include blush and champagne, and that roses and hydrangeas had to be part of the flower arrangements. Inspired by my ballet background and our love story, [Harijanto] suggested a whimsical fairy-tale concept, which I totally loved," shares actress Cheryl Wee. The long-time lovebirds celebrated their banquet with much aplomb and decadence in this beauty of a ballroom set-up that included a functional stairwell! See their wedding here. The couple celebrated with a fun Disneyland-inspired wedding that their young son would also remember. Like the main streets of Disneyland, the couple had lamp posts along the aisle instead of flowers in their grand ballroom banquet. A giant story book and majestic six-tiered wedding cake set the scene for their celebration on stage. For more stunning visuals, see their wedding here. For their retro Shanghai and getai themed wedding, the couple employed the expertise of Singapore Tentage & Rental Service and transformed the hall at the Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations into an unforgettable sight for their guests. The decor included their reception area as seen. "Guests were encouraged to come in traditional Chinese attire – or at least the fashion of the time," says Benjamin. See their night of extravanganza here. "For our wedding theme, we decided on an Alice In Wonderland theme for the banquet as we felt that the story – entering a new and unknown world with lots of unexpected scenarios and challenges – kind of reflected what married life would be like, shares Jessica, a former Miss Singapore and model. “Yang Kang and I came up with the ideas, bought the decorations and brought them back to Singapore from Hong Kong, where we currently live. My close friends and bridesmaids helped us set them up," she adds. See their wedding banquet at Capella here. Angela and Shinsuke had a dusty pink, multi-customs wedding reception at The Straits Room. "For our wedding, we wanted white and dusty pink as their main wedding colours, but did not want the decor to be overtly cute", shares the bride. See how they included their Chinese and Japanese wedding customs in their wedding here! "Alvin's the geekier one," says Wei Ying, "but I grew to love Star Wars more because of him. In fact, it was clear from the start that at least one of our celebrations would have a Star Wars theme." Check out their fun celebration here. Sharing their love for all things Star Wars, Wei Ying and Alvin included props and decor pieces from the Star Wars empire into their wedding reception at The Halia.
