Rory and Andrea Machell's wedding took place at Lamonts Bishops House in Perth, a heritage Georgian manor that was transformed into a charming restaurant, serving modern Australian cuisine, and bar by Kate Lamont in 2010. For the elegant yet informal occasion, the bride's figure-skimming dress with intricate details looked elegant without the fuss of a ballgown. The groom went for classic black lightened up with hints of red and brown. Cathrin D'Entremont, wedding designer and owner of Cathrin D'Entremont Weddings, created a rustic setting with gorgeously relaced arrangements of lovely, fresh peonies, garden roses, chrysanthemums, anthuriums, black calla lilies, hydrangeas, amaranthus and orchids that gave the outdoor space the modern couple had chosen the feel of a romantic arbour. The bold colours of the autumn blooms and gold ornaments are balanced with muted greens for a fall wedding. We've got more dreamy rustic wedding setting ideas here! The arrangements, which featured a mix of dark and soft pastel tones, also flowed gracefully from the rafters that would normally have supported a marquee, making for a spectacular centre piece. (See more hanging centrepiece ideas, here.) For a beautifully rustic look, keep arrangements in loose, freewheeling shapes and incorporate lots of foliage. Nothing transforms a space quite like the right lighting. Warm lighting- think candles, fairy lights, or hanging bulbs like these - instantly give your venue an intimate, romantic and welcoming vibe. Hang them over each table, wind fairy lights around trees, or over the rafters to create a gleaming canopy for a magical ambience. Cathrin also used dark furniture to match Andrea's jewel-coloured bouquet as well as the blooms set at intervals along the long dinner tables. Short centrepieces on a long table also encourages conversation from across the table instead of towering ones. This four-tiered confection by Cake Love Couture is proof that you don't need too many details for a gorgeous wedding cake. The textured white frosting allows for the intricately crafted crimson sugar blooms to stand out, with striking hue also complimenting the wedding's colour scheme. (Love floral cakes? A small, hand-bound ceremony booklet with custom coloured ribbons was made especially for the occasion too. It included the wedding menu, a quickie fun quiz and a story about the couple, and was given to guest as a souvenir, along with glass jar favours of homemade jams made by the couple themselves, and using fruit from the brides's family farm. The dessert buffet included three cakes, choclate brownies, doughnuts, lemon meringue tartlets, salted caramel and chocolate ganache, chocolate and Kahlua truffles and handmade Turkish delights. The three semi-naked cakes and sweet snacks were artfully displayed on vintage trays and pretty plates. Just be sure yours are edible, free of pesticide, and that your guests aren't allergic. You can also have mix of fresh, painted and sugar blooms for your dessert table! Some edible blooms include pansies, lavender, violets and jasmine. To bring more of the green outdoors for the evening celebrations, Cathrin placed ficus trees with up lighting around the edge. She also added thousands of fairy lights across the roof of the rafters to create a starry night sky.
