We all know the preferred way of getting sweaty with your significant other, but if you’re looking to burn a few more calories together, there’s a few good workout options to try outside the bedroom. Dates don’t have to be the dinner-and-a-movie variety, instead invite him to hit the dance (or yoga) studio with you for an activity that’s a little more… interactive.

The most obvious of choices if you want to get close to your man with a sex jam thrown in. Salsa or any of the Latin dances like bachata or the tango are a great way to improve coordination, stamina and burn some calories at the same time. With fixed moves for both guys and girls, it’s great activity to try out together, and who doesn’t like a man who knows how to lead? Start in a group at beginner’s level or go straight to private classes so you and your partner get a little undivided attention.

For every man you see in a yoga class, there’s usually 10 women, but if you can convince your other half to give it go, they might be pleasantly surprised. Yoga is great for strengthening and lengthening tight muscles. If he’s got a desk job, this will work wonders for hi shoulders and hips. But Yoga has other benefits too if you can learn to connect together. Pure Yoga is offering a sepcial workshop on partner work. Using the Dharma Yog Wheel, you and your partner will learn and help each other to relax physically, mentally, and emotionally… and get fir at the same time. (Partner Yoga Wheel, 2&9 December, 7pm-9pm).

Ok, if it’s hard to get your man to a yoga class, a class that was developed from ballet aesthetics is probably not going to be any easier. However, get him there and he’ll be surprised at how much of a workout it can be. WeBarre teachers like to incorporate elements of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) into their classes which include partner works such as squats while holding hands or high-fifing jumping jacks. Make sure you mention this is to amp up the manliness factor for your other half, and get him to the studio.

This might be a more manly activity he can get behind. While Singapore might be lacking in real mountains to climb (a stroll up Mount Faber isn’t quite the same thing), ut that doesn’t mean you and your partner can’t strap on a harness and get high… on a wall that is. The activity is quickly gaining popularity in Singapore and you can I’ve it a try at Onsight, the country’s largest rulering space at 100 Guillemard Road which boasts 43 lines as well as a 15m speed climbing wall. In addition to getting you ready for the next Amazing Race, this activity is sure to improve upper body strength. 2016.onsight.com.sg

Kayaking is a great way to explore some of Singapore’s lesser known greens, specifically the mangroves of Pulau Ubin which you can do on a two seater kayak, just you, the love of your life and the tranquility of the surrounding greens (though this might be slightly dampened by the rest of your group). Keep your eye on more than just your guy though, tours have been known to spot the otter family as well as pods of pink dolphins on their outings.
