Celebrity producer, Discovery Channel travel presenter, yoga trainer and former MTV VJ Denise Keller and husband Robert Gaxiola, co-founder and creative director of independent advertising agency Mangham Gaxiola, enjoyed a vanilla and cream cake with fondant and edible gold leaves at their Bali wedding. And the proof is quite literally in the pudding (or the cake, shall we say). The couple's wedding cake was a rustic naked lychee-rose-flavoured sponge dressed with fresh fruits and roses. Maureen is a huge fan of French pastry chef Pierre Herme's Ipsahan (lychee rose) cake, so she got local baker Butter Studio to recreate it. Channel News Asia's Glenda Chong had a sugee cake at her wedding to solicitor Justin Chan, which reflected the couple's Peranakan-inspired invitations. Blogger and entrepreneur Yina Goh and Jerry Peh had a whimsical pastel wedding that included this vanilla cake with buttercream frosting and real petals by Yina's good friend, Shiberty. Only the top two tiers were real. Suria actress Azzah Fariha and Sleeq rapper Alif Abdullah had a pandan and gula melaka cake - Azzah's favourite flavour - with Chinese inspired gold dans was made by a mutual friend. Class 95 DJ Tim Oh wed Sabrina Chua, a deputy editor with Channel News Asia, and the couple enjoyed two cakes, including this delicious three-tiered caramel confection by Plain Vanilla. Actress Yvonne Lim had a cake from Le Cafe Confectionery and Pastry, which was made up of fake layers as well as real ones of vanilla sponge and buttercream, when she wed former Taiwanese boy band member-turned-businessman, Alex Tien in a star-studded reception.
