Slap on the SPF
Every discerning bride should know that sunblock is a must when it comes to being exposed under the sun’s rays. Apart from sun spots (which will hit you later in life), a layer of sunblock will help prevent you from turning red as a lobster (which won’t look good in pictures!).

Don’t be blinded by your love
Sunglasses are a great idea for wedding portraits pre- or post-ceremony, as well as thoughtful favours for guests, especially if your venue doesn’t come with shade or shelter. Alternatively, consider carrying a pretty traditional paper umbrella in a pastel hue, which will look charming with your wedding dress. It’s great for the guests too, when the sun gets too hot. Pick a shade to match your wedding decor or to complement your dress details.

Skip the train
Having one can be cumbersome, hard to navigate in, and will add weight to your dress, which makes it hard for walking, especially on the grass. My tip: Wear a gown that has a light, slightly voluminous tulle skirt that’s lightweight enough, yet offers enough poof for you to feel like a princess.

Less makeup, please
Ask your makeup artist (See our tips on choosing the right makeup artist here) to suggest a look that’s light and suits you best. (See blogger Jayne Tham’s light yet glamorous makeup look, and how to achieve it). If you prefer wearing heavier makeup on the day of, again, ask your makeup artist to see if there are ways around it. Or, opt for a morning or sunset ceremony. Tip: Keep a light moisturizing or mineral water spritz with you when the going gets too hot. Just a light spray can do wonders and keep you feeling refreshed in the heat

Shoe prep
Wearing the right shoes are also essential, if you’re tying the knot on grass, or uneven ground. You can either wear flats, wedges, or opt for heel tip covers (you can get pretty ones in clear or black, from Clean Heels Singapore, www.deesjewelleryworld.com) if you’re wearing stilettos.
