The good thing about Year of the Dog-themed watches is that we don’t have to be born in the Year of the Dog to wear them – everyone can appreciate a little tribute to man’s best friend on our wrists.

In 18K rose gold with Champleve Grand Feu enamel dial, Ulysse Nardin’s Classico Dog has a 42-hour power reserve, is water-resistant to 50m, and limited to 88 pieces. $61,200.

The Bolt-68 Automatic Barry is a collaboration between Bomberg and the Barry Foundation to honour and preserve the heritage of Switzerland’s national dog, the St Bernard. The foundation, which breeds the dogs, is based in Martigny. It is named after Barry, a legendary mountain rescue dog that saved the lives of 40 people between 1800 and 1814. $5,060, Watches of Switzerland.

Chopard celebrates the Chinese zodiac each year with a limited edition L.U.C XP Urushi watch. This year’s features an Akita dog with orchids and a dragonfly. The latter, in Chinese culture, is a lucky charm and a good omen. Urushi Year of the Dog, $34,220.

The image of the dog on this dial was created with elaborate Grand Feu cloisonne enamelling, an ancient technique for decorating metalwork. The 18K white gold case is set with 78 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling approximately 0.7 carats. Piaget’s Antiplano Cloisonne Enamel watch is limited to 38 pieces. Price upon request.
