Michelin has struck a partnership with the largest online reservations provider in Europe that will allow consumers to book a table at a Michelin-rated eatery across Europe instantly.
The partnership with Livebookings.com will first launch in France and Germany, offering instant table reservations at thousands of restaurants across both countries before being rolled out across the rest of Europe.
Currently, Michelin’s restaurant site provides descriptions, ratings, inspector and user-generated reviews and a link to the website, but users cannot make reservations directly.
Livebookings services will aim to rival leading real-time online reservation site OpenTable. Headquartered in San Francisco, OpenTable also operates in Canada, Germany, Japan, Mexico and the UK, seating about 10 million diners a month in 27,000 restaurants.
