Firm and tighten skin: This RF treatment can be done within your lunch hour 

Time shows up on everyone’s skin eventually – and more often than not, it begins with a slowdown in collagen production. A deeper approach to firmness

Using dual-frequency monopolar radiofrequency (RF) technology, the non-invasive treatment delivers heat at multiple depths, reaching from the surface down to the SMAS layer (the same structural layer targeted in surgical facelifts). Spa Awards reviewer and Her World digital editor Cheryl Chan went in with some puffiness and post-breakout discolouration. 

“They were very careful with managing pain and prioritising my comfort,” she shares, with Dr Luther Chung walking her through the treatment in detail before getting started.

After about 30 minutes of numbing cream, approximately 600 shots were administered across her face. Different handpiece sizes allow the treatment to be tailored to different areas of the face – from delicate zones like under the eyes to broader regions like the cheeks and forehead – with energy levels adjusted accordingly.

During the session, a nurse helped distract her with light tapping, while Dr Chung checked in regularly and tweaked the settings when needed. Cheryl found that the built-in cooling feature helped take the edge off when the heat intensified, and that the session felt more manageable than she expected.

With no recovery time needed, Cheryl was able to head straight to a party after applying light makeup, with only slight flushing on her cheeks. In the days that followed, her skin appeared plumper and firmer. 

Some immediate tightening can happen as existing collagen contracts during the treatment, but fuller results develop over time, Dr Chung notes. As he explains, the most visible improvements tend to emerge over two to three months as new collagen forms and matures.
