We’re now right smack in the middle of holiday party season, and it’s definitely the worst time for a fashion mishap. A loose button, wine stains, blister forming on your feet; these misfortunes will ruin all of your fun.

If you find yourself in any of those tricky situations, don’t panic. Today, we share six fast and easy solutions for some of the most common (and annoying!) fashion emergencies.

Armed with these nifty tricks, you can rise above them and own your outfit like a boss.

Crisis #1: The stitching of your hem came off
These pesky little stitches have the tendency to come off from wear and tear, but all you need is some sturdy double-sided tape to combat it. It keeps the fallen hem secure to your dress or skirt and prevents it from flopping around.

Crisis #2: Your zipper is stuck
Sucking your tummy in for dear life, but still can’t get the zipper to budge? This happens the most often when you haven’t worked that zipper in a long while. Try rubbing the tip of a lip balm or bar soap against the zipper as a lubricant to get the zipper mechanism well oiled and moving again.

Crisis #3: Your lost the back piece of your earring
It’s not a party until you lose something, and earring backs are one of those things that goes missing without us even trying. There are a couple of things you can use in place of your original backings. A small chunk of an eraser or cork will do in a pinch, but folded aluminium foil (fold them two to three times to create a tiny “ball”) will work, too.

Crisis #4: Breaking out in perspiration
Dancing hard in a club or a super crowded house party might cause you to perspire profusely. If you know you are going to be in these situations, remember to prep for it. Put on antiperspirant pads before you head out. If you forgot and only remembered when you start to feel the heat at the party, find a hand dryer or get out for a breather before re-entering the furnace.

Crisis #5: Your button popped
The temptation of delicious food can make it hard to control what goes into our bellies at parties. Buttons are one of the things that come off quite easily, but don’t worry, they’re also easy to fix.

If the button came from an open weave or loosely knitted blouse or cardigan, grab a twist tie and put it through the button to secure it behind the sweater. If they are from your jeans, you can use a safety pin to secure it to the fabric.

Crisis #6: Blisters forming on your feet
We have always stressed the importance of only wearing well-worn and comfortable shoes for a long night out, but we know that they are not always the most stylish choice in your closet. If you must bust out your showstopping shoes for a party, remember to always pack plasters in your purse.

If your outfit allows, wear them with stockings or socks to minimise the abrasion from the shoes to your feet. You can also sprinkle some powder, spray some antiperspirant or apply a dab of lotion onto your feet before wearing them. These let your feet slip in the shoes easily and stretches out the leather.

Crisis #7: You spilled something on your outfit
Need I say more? This is definitely the single most common fashion emergency that everyone can identify with. We always see it coming, but it seems like there’s no way to avoid it.

The solution? Resist rubbing the stain with water because it could exacerbate the issue. Instead, gently blot the affected area with a dry paper towel or absorbent cloth. You also use stain removing pens and wipes after the spill. Good luck!
