Junior will get to transform himself into a superhero of his own imagination at Superhero Me, a festival that aims to empower children through the art of costume making. Here, he can try his hand at making his own superhero costume at guided craft workshops, with materials such as construction paper, feathers and cardboard. After completing his costume, he can create his own adventure stop-motion film at a separate booth, striking poses in all his costumed glory. He’ll even receive a link to view his personalised video on YouTube!

Thereafter, take your little superhero to the festival’s exhibition segment, where he can marvel at other costumes designed by kids from various preschools, charities, and non-profit organisations across Singapore. On weekends, he can also participate in free workshops on topics like drama, storytelling, and music and movement.

The fun and games at this festival are not without purpose – they’re meant to celebrate Junior’s imagination and creativity, and inculcate in him values usually found in superheroes, such as kindness and resilience. Of course, it also makes for a fun day out for the family!

The festival, which is free, will be held daily through June 30 at the National Library. What’s more, if your child shows up in any costume of his own creation between 12pm and 5pm on June 27, he’ll get to have his picture taken professionally at a photo booth – for free.
