What’s the difference between a smoothie and a smoothie bowl?

A smoothie is meant to be drunk while a smoothie bowl is an extra thick and creamy bowl of goodness topped with yummy, healthful ingredients (think nuts and fruits), and eaten with a spoon. It’s a lot more satisfying, we might add.

Try these smoothie bowl recipes:

Choco-Banana Smoothie Bowl with Chia Seeds
Give yourself a healthy dose of indulgence with this rich, delicious breakfast bowl.  

INGREDIENTS
1 frozen banana
¾ cup almond milk
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tbsp chia seeds
½ banana, sliced
A handful of chopped walnuts.

DIRECTIONS

Combine the frozen banana, almond milk, cocoa powder and chia seeds in a blender, and whizz until smooth.

Pour into a bowl, top with sliced bananas and walnuts, and serve.

Green Smoothie Bowl
If you’re put off by the idea of a green smoothie, this may change your mind.

INGREDIENTS
½ ripe avocado
¾ cup almond milk
A handful of baby spinach
1 frozen banana
A handful of sunflower seeds
A handful of roasted almonds
A handful of dried cranberries

DIRECTIONS

Combine the avocado, almond milk, baby spinach and banana in a blender, and whizz until smooth.

Pour into a bowl, top with sunflower seeds, roasted almonds and dried cranberries and serve.

Berry Bliss Yogurt Smoothie Bowl
The bright, cheery colours in this one will pep up your day.

INGREDIENTS
½ cup almond milk
1 frozen banana
2 tbsp Greek yogurt
1 cup frozen mixed berries
A handful of fresh blueberries
A handful of fresh raspberries
2 tbsp crushed granola.

DIRECTIONS

Combine the almond milk, Greek yogurt and frozen mixed berries in a blender, and whizz until smooth.

Pour into a bowl, top with fresh blueberries, raspberries and crushed granola, and serve.
