#1: Your foundation makes your skin look fairer than your natural skin tone

Whether your foundation looks too light-coloured for your skin tone within the day even after allowing the foundation to “oxidise”, or your foundation is too light to use after your beach holiday.

You should get the right colour foundation for your current skin colour. And if you were back from a beach vacation, you can go back to your existing foundation after your tan fades.

Picking a foundation that is too light for your skin amplifies the face width, and makes your face look bigger. What’s more, we sometimes do not even need to contour too much if the foundation is the right colour.

#2: Your liquid foundation disappears by midday

Picking the right type of liquid foundation is vital to its lasting ability. If you want the liquid foundation to last, use a long-wearing liquid foundation that is designed for oilier skin types.

My favourite super, long-wearing liquid foundations are MAC StudioFix fluid and Shiseido Protective UV foundation, both adhere to skin like second skin, and can even resist sweat and sebum.

P.S.: Powder foundation normally do not last as long as liquid foundation because the adherence ability of powder to skin isn’t as good as liquid to skin.

#3: You’ve tried so many foundations but your foundation always look cakey

This is likely because you didn’t take time to prep your skin for makeup. We should always hydrate skin properly, and take time to massage in your skincare.(This takes less than five minutes.)

If you want a serum that quick hydrates your skin and also provides anti-ageing benfits, try the Estetica Est.Lab Vitalist A+ Miracle Lift Serum. Take a pump of this, spread over your palm and massage it over your face.

This helps to hydrate the skin, giving it “bounce”. The massaging action also helps to stretch the skin, allowing it to be supple, smooth and bouncy. This reduces the likelihood of your foundation caking up after application.

#4: Your powder and liquid foundation always look thick on the skin

Assuming you have really good skin, a touch of liquid or powder on very good skin can look thick on natural flawless skin. The trick is to use a tinted sheer product upon your face like Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 or something with a light coverage like Cle de Peau Beaute Radiant Fluid Foundation.

You can also apply it with a foundation applicator like Color Me Automation Foundation Applicator (available at Sephora) so you can apply without a mess and can easily control where the product goes on your face.
