3. Ringly smart ring

What it does: Buzzes and emits light (from a pinhole in the side) whenever you get a call, text or social-media update on your smartphone. How to tell which notification you’re getting? You can assign different vibration patterns and light colours to each app. The range of rings offers a choice of eight gemstones, including quartz and pink chalcedony.

4. Montblanc Timewalker Urban Speed Chronograph e-Strap

What it does: Takes selfies when you tap the screen on the Montblanc e-Strap, and tracks the number of steps you take a day. The e-Strap comes with this watch, with the screen located where you’d normally find the watch’s buckle. Sync the e-Strap to the Montblanc e-Strap phone app to preview incoming e-mail and texts.

Price: $7,400. The e-Strap is also sold separately for $620.
