There is a new aesthetic for accessories in Pre-Fall that fashions costume jewellery after every day objects. Cue Altuzarra’s belt with keys or Chanel’s brooches and necklaces that are also fashioned after keys. Then there are the Christmas tree ornaments as pendants and earrings at Balenciaga.

Even before the look became a trend, homegrown jewellery label Carrie K has been championing that brand of kitschy cool for a long time with its popular Safety Pins ring collection. (Aside: Carrie K.’s founder Carolyn Kan was a speaker at our very first Her World Young Woman Social.)

Previously only available in sterling silver plated with 14K black, white, yellow or rose gold, the series now comes in multi-coloured cubic zirconias for a more standout look ($118-$148) for both silver and oxidised silver rings. Also new: pin-shaped charms ($98 each) which give those typical trinkets a punkish nod.

The pieces will be available at the  Multiply: A Majestic Playground Pop-Up by Keepers X Straits Clan at the Majestic Hotel from May 27 to May 28, the Carrie K. Atelier and on the brand’s e-store.
