Looks like my fantasies of having a heated romance and great romps in bed with a Frenchman (or men) might be shot.

Seventy-six  per cent of the more than 1000 French adults surveyed by the Institute for Public Opinion, a French market research organisation, are having trouble in bed leading to problems in their relationships.

Both the women and men admitted to trying to get out of sex by using excuses such as headaches, stress, tiredness or the children being nearby. Half even said they don’t have the desire to do the deed at all sometimes.

Wait a minute here. Just because they’re French doesn’t mean they’ve got to be going at it all the time right? And trying to get out of sex? Hasn’t that been an age old practice since women began faking the big O?

I’m guessing the shocker here is twice as many French women as men don’t want to be getting hot and heavy with their countrymen — 1 in 6 women admitted to giving those excuses as opposed to 1 in 3 men.

This is a male race who thinks very highly of their skills with the opposite sex – another recent survey this year revealed 40 per cent of Frenchmen think they’re the best lovers in Europe.

Help is on the way, though. According to a BBC correspondent, “the pharmaceutical corporation which commissioned the survey says it is going to launch an information campaign this month for French couples who want to improve their sex lives.”

Whether Frenchmen might want to own up to their problems in the sack, however, is another matter.
