We’re finally at the day of St Jerome’s Festival, the music scene to be at this year. It can’t get any better than having a cold one on a picnic mat while chilling out to some indie rock and alternative music.
Music festivals are an amazing opportunity for you to break away and unwind from your usual routine, because of how rarely they occur. They also offer you a chance to get to know artistes and explore music of different genres.
So putting aside whether you’re at Laneway for the music or the food, you’ll want to make sure that you have an utterly pleasant experience. Read on for more tips on how to last through the festival, which is going on from 10am to 12am on Jan 27.

Our weather now is unpredictable, so it’s highly important to dress for the occasion. You should be opting for clothes that are lightweight.
As for footwear, slippers, boots or sneakers are great options, whichever suits your style.

To make sure your makeup doesn’t melt away, be sure to use a long-lasting setting spray. On the other hand, you could go au-naturel, and simply opt for an eyebrow pencil, eyelash curlers and a lip-cheek tint.
Put your hair up – in a ponytail, bun or dutch braid. You could easily untie them afterwards if you’d like to show off your locks.
Bring along mini-sized beauty products like a lip balm or facial mist to keep your skin fresh. Or, you could head to the H&M tent to win some beauty goodies.

Avoid bringing too many things because it’ll end up being an awfully big hassle. Instead, bring a small bag that’s big enough for your necessities like your ticket, phone, identity card, credit card and/or cash (be sure to withdraw enough beforehand since re-entry is not allowed).
An important thing to pack in is your portable charger. However, if you’re not willing to bring one, there are charging areas prepared for you. They have wires for most phones, and a resting area for you too.
A quick run through of other things to bring – wet and dry tissues, sweets or chocolates (in case you need an energy boost) and mosquito patches.
The best bag to bring would be a sling bag. However, if you choose to bring a larger bag, you may opt to leave it in a locker at the Visitor Centre and bring the necessities.

Uber, one of the sponsors of Laneway, will make travelling easier. Book a car through Uber with your destination set as ‘Meadow Carpark’, and you’ll get $5 off with the code ‘LANEWAY18’.
And when you’re heading home, just enter your destination and a pin will be generated. Get a car at the Uber Lounge, show your driver the pin on your phone, and you’re on the way back.
But redemeptions are limited, so fastest fingers first!

It doesn’t matter whether or not it’s raining. Drinking water often is extremely important for preventing dehydration, which could lead to fainting even if the weather is chilly.
You can bring in an empty plastic bottle, or purchase a bottle from the Evian cart located on the pathway near Main Entrance 1 (where the merchandise stall is). Plus, for every purchase, you get a free poncho, while stocks last.

First of all, don’t bring it in. The festival has been sponsored by UberEats, which means filling your tummy is way easier than trying to sneak in some munchies. But just how much easier?
You can quickly order your food on the UberEats app, and choose to have it delivered to one of three locations, where you can pick it up at your convenience.
But if you’re not too into all this tech whiz, you can stroll through the food village, or the sponsor’s tents, where both alcoholic, and non-alcoholic drinks are available too. Expect to find all kinds of food – from burgers to bibimbap.
P.S. Don’t forget to try the food near the cloud zone!

Be sure to protect your skin from the UV rays by slathering on some sunscreen. You’ll want to focus on your arms and legs too.
This will prevent you from getting sunburnt and nobody likes sunburn.

In the event of rain, the show will go on. That’s why you should make sure to bring a poncho or a raincoat, or buy a disposable one.
Do not bring any umbrellas as they are strictly prohibited.

Everyone would appreciate some basic courtesy so don’t bash your way around the mosh pit; throw away your litter in the designated areas; smoke at designed spots.
Instead of crowding around one area, opt for the seats near the sponsors’ tent – there are comfy seats and even beds at Strongbow.
By following these rules (and many more), you’ll be providing a great environment for not only yourself, but the people around you.
Most importantly, don’t forget to put your phones away, and truly enjoy the music!
