Dunking a bartender into water is legit okay...if it is for charity

Why not walk on the wild side this weekend by switching things up. Be adventurous - grab your girlfriends and explore the island at these hand-picked activities that includes drinking artisanal cocktails, having a durian high tea, shimmying at a silent disco and discovering your compatibility through numerology. Sounds like a blast, don’t you think?

Durian High Tea at Marriott Cafe

Are you and your girlfriends durian aficionados? Then put all things on hold and head on down to Marriott Cafe for a scrumptious Durian High Tea buffet. You can expect a plethora of durian creations, both savoury and sweet, alongside mouthwatering local and international delights. Look forward to durian cream puffs, fried durian balls and more.

But most notably… the durian pizza. Decadent with gooey goodness, think fragrant durian flesh teamed up with stringy mozzarella, creamy mascarpone cheese, all topped on a crusty base with crumbled coconut shavings. Sooooo indulgent.

Silent Disco 1st Year Anniversary

For the uninitiated, a silent disco is an event where people come together on the dancefloor, listening to music from a wireless headphones rather than a speaker system. Those without the headphones hear no music and those with, have a few channels of music to choose from.

That way, everyone can dance to their favourite tunes. This concept was first used by eco-activists back in the early 1990s to minimize noise pollution and disturbances. It quickly became popular, to the point that the Oxford Dictionary Online added the term, ‘silent disco’ onto their website in February 2011.

Back home, our very first silent disco happened on the 14th of May last year and tomorrow, Silent Disco Asia is celebrating their first birthday bash at their roots of origin - Kult Kafe. Get set for a blast at the stunning open-air colonial building, slip on your noise-cancelling headphones and shimmy to different genres of music - indie rock, house music and chart-topping pop hits. So switch off that desktop, grab some dinner and groove along.

Camp Kilo sure looks like the place to be. After the Bar Awards BBQ Bash on Saturday, they’re hosting a Social Market the following day. A passion project of DJ Zig Zach and Jade Amar, they wanted to create a space where people can come together, listen to great music and nibble on delicious bites.

A little background on the duo, the former, DJ Zig Zach is a professional Muay Thai fighter by day, DJ by name. Spinning regularly at The Vault, Ku De Ta, Tanjong Beach Club and W Hotel in Bali, he is known for his deep house, nu-disco with a dash of techno. The latter, Miss Jade Amar, who is also DJ Zig Zach’s girlfriend, is the brand manager of Bali label Lilla Lane. A brand that fuses the exquisite Balinese culture with a modern bohemian vibe, its first outlet can be found within Cluny Court.

So you can expect a lot of sunset house vibes, littered with local designers and intricate crafts. If you’re not doing anything on Sunday, why not head on down for some food, music and shopping.
