It’s Friyay! It may be tempting to just knock back a tipple after work and spend the rest of the weekend in bed. But nope, do something new for a change. Let your hair down and have some fun this weekend. Don’t give yourself a break because we have Monday to recuperate before getting back to the daily grind. And for readers who are celebrating, selamat hari raya!

Caturday at The Projector

Are you a feline friend? Then spend your ‘Caturday’ at The Projector watching a screening of Kedi, a Turkish film about cats roaming the metropolis of Istanbul. The film explores how cats live between two worlds over there; neither tame or wild, they just bring joy and purpose to those people they choose to adopt; folks with furbabies will get it.

If you’re a cat lover, this is the movie to watch. If you’re not, this documentary will convert you by charming its way into your heart and home as you fall in love with the cats in Istanbul.

It doesn’t end there. After the screening, there will be a cat adoption drive by Cat Welfare Society where you get to adopt your very own pet. This will be followed by a post-show talk, The Kedi and The Kuching – a panel on the community cat landscape in Singapore and the differences in the treatment of cats in both countries.

Ink & Cut

Does your bae sport a well-groomed beard or has his hair slicked back? Well, over this weekend, there is a pop-up held at The Cathay helmed by The Hounds of Baskervilles (a men’s grooming boutique beloved by dapper Singaporean guys) and Gimmelove Tattoo (a popular local tattoo studio), which we think he will be interested in.

The best part? You get to shop while he gets a complimentary haircut. All you’ve gotta do is spend a minimum of $50 (a maximum of two same-day receipts). Bonus: Get a mystery tattoo done for the same spending.

Mambo Jambo

It’s Mambo Jambo time again! For the uninitiated, Mambo Jambo is a national phenomenon and possibly the longest running party in Singapore’s nightlife history. At its previous location, Mambo used to take place every Wednesday night; these days, it’s on once a month.

You can expect the dancefloor to be filled with an enthusiastic crowd dancing in perfect synchrony to classic anthems like Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit, Lou Bega’s Mambo No. 5 and more. If you’re there for the first time, just observe and mimic someone’s moves; you’ll get it sooner or later. If you’re a veteran, then show off those moves like you own it.

Outta Hatha x National Gallery Singapore

Are you looking to stretch a little this weekend? Then check out the third installment of Outta Hatha’s pop-up series at the National Gallery Singapore, where Ruth Tan will be sharing her yoga secrets with you. Grab a partner because there will be some fun partner work along the way. Or who knows, you might just meet someone eligible there for the taking.

@pinkchampagne13

Here’s a little background on Ruth: She suffered from all sorts of sports injuries over the years before deciding to try out yoga in a last-ditch attempt at soothing her injuries. After attending various other courses oversea with many international yoga teachers, she is now sharing her passion in Hatha and Vinyasa (types of yoga) with others.

During the yoga session at the National Gallery Singapore, you can opt for different levels of difficulty, so don’t worry if you’re a newbie. One thing to note: Please bring your own mat, water bottle and a towel to clean up after yourself.
