We’ve mentioned before that Bugis Junction and Bugis+ are your one-stop dining destinations for any occasion. Need more proof? Just ask 40 Her World/Taste Society members who went on a drool-worthy food trail over two days in July at the malls.
Organised by Her World and Taste Society, the food trail involved four restaurants each from Bugis Junction and Bugis+. Participants experienced a world of flavours – from Western to Korean to modern Cantonese – all at one convenient location.
The event was hosted by Her World features and lifestyle editor Kimberly Spykerman, with special guests Jessica Loh (@shiberty) and Vickii Ma (@vickiima) on the first night, and Shirley Wong (@littlemissbento) on the second. Everyone enjoyed a wide range of lip-smacking dishes, some of which they had always wanted to try, but never had the chance to!

The first stop was this casual Italian- and American-inspired restaurant that serves contemporary cuisine. Guests dined on a variety of healthy and hearty dishes, namely the Ribeye Quinoa Bowl, with succulent beef; Cast-Iron Grilled Chicken, with fries and salad; and Bacon Crumble Carbonara, a luscious medley of pasta and bacon in a creamy white sauce.
This delightful restaurant serves modern Cantonese dishes. Here, our diners feasted on traditional treats given a modern twist: Pulled Pork Ribs Chinese Style Sliders, which replaces fatty pork slices with caramelised roasted pulled pork; and the deep-fried Prawn Toast Mantou, made with freshly minced prawns. The highlight was the Signature Roasted Chicken Thigh with Shrimp and Pork Dumplings Soup Noodles, a comforting dish with ingredients served in a rich, flavourful broth that takes eight hours to prepare.
Guests were in for a treat at this two-in-one dining destination, which serves modern interpretations of favourite Asian dishes. At Danro, the group sampled a healthy Tofu Avocado Salad, the Japanese-inspired Salmon & Ebi Roll, and a satisfying Mixed Seafood Pasta. Later, at Ju Hao Xiao Long Bao, they were served Steamed Chilli Crab Dumplings, which were bursting with hot crab broth, juicy pork and chunks of chilli crab; Pork Belly Roll with Crushed Garlic, a dish that was topped with homemade spicy garlic sauce; and Prawn Fried Rice, which was loaded with juicy, plump prawns.
This is one of Singapore’s favourite Korean fried chicken joints and, boy, did diners load up on this speciality dish! For starters, they tried Honey Butter Chicken – crispy boneless chunks of chickens coated with a rich honey butter sauce. This dish was accompanied by rice cakes tossed in the same sauce. It was followed by Garlicky Tenders where boneless chicken tenders were coated in special soy sauce topped with crunchy garlic flakes; Kogane Yama Bite-size Platter that featured shrimp and enoki mushroom tempura and Japanese short-grain rice topped with tentsuyu sauce, and two drinks – Blue Marine Tok! Tok! made from green grape, and Passion Yellow Tok! Tok! made from tropical passion fruit.
Rita Lee particularly enjoyed her dining experience at Bugis Junction.
“I like to try new restaurants and eateries, and I was surprised by the wide range of food served. It was certainly value-for-money,” she shared.

Chicken wing fans gorged on a sumptuous spread of their favourite dish at Wing Zone. They got to sample the BBQ-inspired Smokinq Original Wings, Hand-breaded Tenders, and the spicy Thai Chili Boneless Wings.
Our guests then headed over to Korean dining spot Seoul Yummy. Here, they tucked into signature dishes such as the filling Army’s Stew, a spicy stew packed with all kinds of meat and veggies; Andong Jjim Dak, a dish filled with chicken, octopus and vegetables in Korean soy sauce; and the homestyle Kimchi Fried Rice with Pork & Assorted Seafood.
This casual restaurant was up next. On the menu: a creamy Avocado & Egg Sandwich, Waffle with 3 Scoops of Gelato, the unique Taro Gelato Shake, Double Choc, Frappuccino, and Gelatte (ice latte and gelato). Marketing executive Shirley Chau, 34, said: “I liked the waffles; they were soft and chewy. I also enjoyed the chocolate gelato.”
Unusual but delicious East-meets-West dishes were the draw at the final dining destination. Guests feasted on Salted Egg Lotus Root Chips, Hakka “Nan Run” Pork Belly, and Homemade Char Siew, Spring Onion & Chilli Pizza – all while enjoying live music and ice cold beer.
Marketing manager Charlene Tan, 33, thoroughly enjoyed eating her way through Bugis+.
“It was a good experience. I got to taste dishes from a few restaurants. I’ve been here before, but never got the chance to try these restaurants, so it was nice to be able to try them all now. It was definitely worth it.”
As if things couldn’t get any better, there was a lucky draw at the end of each food trail, where the winner walked away with Logitech Ultimate Boom 2 Speakers worth $319. All participants had to do was take a picture of the food served at each restaurant and include the hashtags #herworldbugis, #herworldsingapore and #bugisjunctionxbugisplus. The lucky winners were sales executive Stephen Tan and teacher Li Zhuhao.
All participants went home with a goodie bag worth $100 that included F&B vouchers, a Her World x Agnes B pouch, perfume and skincare sachets, as well as the latest July issue of Her World.
