At this gorgeous restaurant-cafe hybrid, the brunch menu with usuals like breakfast platters and vanilla hotcakes only makes its special appearance on weekends, but the all-day dining menu on weekdays could equally pass off as a hearty brunch or any meal you please: think Marinated Flank Steak with chimichurri and fries, Pulled Chicken Pita with hummus and more.

If you like sussing out hidden gems that nobody else knows about, this bar, its presence given away only by a makeshift-looking cardboard sign, is it. Fancy cocktails and creative interpretations of the classics go perfectly with Asian-inspired bar bites, burgers, and even rice bowls.

Specialising in Korean Cham Pong (beef bone soup noodle with seafood, beef, and vegetables), the broth around which the menu is largely centered is made from beef bones simmered for 6 hours. Add in bouncy handmade noodles and you have a classic Korean dish that even the ajummas love.

If you’re familiar with Singapore’s cafe scene, you must know Wheeler’s Yard for its iconic carolina blue warehouse door. Opened by the same folks is Wheeler’s Estate, this garden cafe has it all: a grill house, a restaurant, and even the option to borrow a mat to have a picnic. On the food front, visit for brunch, or more interesting options like Tequila and Lime Pork Spare Ribs, Estate Corzetti Pasta and more.

5. An Acai Affair

High in anti-oxidants, anti-aging and boasting weight loss properties, it’s no wonder acai is, you know, the superfood. At An Acai Affair, their Signature Acai Bowl comes topped with fruits, but the real cherry on top (Get it?) are the sauces – choose from honey, cookie butter, or peanut butter.

If a hawker stall is opening an outlet of its own in one of Singapore’s prime tourist spots, you bet it’s good. This simple local favourite has garnered quite a queue of regular patrons at its original Pek Kio Market stall – expect to wait up to an hour during peak times – and its new Esplanade outlet offers prawns of four sizes and even seafood like freshly shucked oysters, grilled squid and more.

What better place for Hawaiian cuisine than by the beach? Sat by Siloso Beach in Sentosa, this beach club’s menu features items like Wagyu Beef Burgers with grilled pineapples, fresh poke bowls, and – no beach bar is complete without this – cocktails served in tiki mugs, doh.

We’re not saying that the food isn’t great, but it definitely isn’t the star of the show here – designed to look like the set of the hit American sitcom F.R.I.E.N.D.S, you’ll probably find Chandler and Joey’s foosball table or the iconic orange sofa familiar. Pick your food based on your favourite character – Monica’s Lasagne, anyone?

Europeans will be familiar with this winter-reminiscing pastry. Seductively roasted over charcoal while basted with melted butter, witnessing the preparation alone is enough to tempt you into getting one for yourself. Our reco amongst the sweet and savoury options: the Chimney Bread with soft serve ice cream is a pleasant contrast of hot and cold in a mouthful.

Italian cuisine is made interesting at this swanky resto, with dishes like Handmade Ravioli with Braised Veal and Cream of Bone Marrow Sauce. Even salads are made groovy rather than green-focused – the Panzanella has medium rare seared yellowfin tuna as its star.
