From Bangkok street food to Melbourne’s wintry laneway cafes, Singapore travellers have a world of options this summer. Here’s where everyone’s flying and exactly when to book for the best fares

We’re well into the month of June, and if you’ve yet to book your summer vacay or use up any of your annual leave days, then it’s about time you should. With 91 per cent of Singapore travellers planning to take a trip this summer, competition for seats is fierce.
In a recent interview with Brendan Walsh, Travel Trends and Destination Expert at Skyscanner, he mentioned that more travellers are being mindful of the amount they spend on their flight tickets (as they should!). In fact, in a recent survey, it was mentioned that 59 per cent of travellers cited it as a key factor. But honestly, a little flexibility in your planning goes a long way in avoiding these pitfalls.
“The week of 10 August offers the best value for flights within the July to August travel period,” says Walsh. “And yet one in four Singapore travellers don’t even know there’s a cheaper week to fly.” That being said, in this piece, we’ve listed some of the most popular summer destinations for Singapore travellers this year, along with the best-value weeks to fly.

Bangkok, Thailand (From $164)
Average flight price: $199 | Cheapest: Monday, w/c 31 Aug
Bangkok remains one of Southeast Asia’s most compelling city breaks, and it’s easy to see why. The Thai capital packs ornate temples, floating markets, rooftop bars and world-class street food into one electrifying urban sprawl. Weave through Chatuchak Weekend Market, cruise the Chao Phraya River past the shimmering spires of Wat Arun, or hunt down the perfect bowl of pad see ew down a laneway at midnight.
Tokyo, Japan (From $469)
Average flight price: $543 | Cheapest: Wednesday, w/c 29 Jun
Summer is one of Tokyo’s most festive seasons. The Sumida River Fireworks Festival, the Asakusa Samba Carnival, and countless neighbourhood matsuri, for instance, bring the streets to life after dark. By day, check out the cool, air-conditioned galleries, museums and department stores; by night, follow the scent of yakitori and the glow of paper lanterns. Flying in the last week of June gets you in early, and at a better price.
London, United Kingdom (From $1,137)
Average flight price: $1,282 | Cheapest: Tuesday, w/c 3 Aug
For the quintessential Eurosummer, London delivers on every front. The city’s calendar is packed: Wimbledon, BST Hyde Park concerts, the BBC Proms, and the Notting Hill Carnival all fall within the summer window, giving you culture, music and spectacle in one trip. Beyond the events, London in summer rewards slower days too. Here, you can enjoy the parks, riverside walks, and long evenings in garden pubs.
Bali, Indonesia (From $190)
Average flight price: $225 | Cheapest: Sunday, w/c 31 Aug
The Bali formula endures for good reason, especially for us Singaporeans. Warm days, rice terraces, surf breaks and an easy island pace that feels immediately restorative. Catch waves at Canggu or Uluwatu, explore temples at golden hour, join a wellness retreat in Ubud, or simply settle into a villa in Seminyak with a good book. The late August window also catches slightly cooler, drier days before the rains return.
Seoul, South Korea (From $402)
Average flight price: $521 | Cheapest: Wednesday, w/c 31 Aug
Seoul is summer for the style-conscious traveller. K-beauty flagships in Myeongdong, high-end skincare and spa experiences in Gangnam, fragrance and makeup pop-ups in Seongsu, and polished neighbourhood cafés that double as art installations, what more could you ask for?
Melbourne, Australia (From $473)
Average flight price: $529 | Cheapest: Tuesday, w/c 10 Aug
While Singapore swelters, Melbourne is in the middle of winter. The Melbourne International Film Festival, the Queen Victoria Winter Night Market, laneway cafés with great coffee and no queues, wine bars, gallery openings: the city’s cultural scene is arguably at its best in the cooler months. Day trip to the Yarra Valley or the coast for a change of pace.
Perth, Australia (From $312)
Average flight price: $433 | Cheapest: Wednesday, w/c 10 Aug
Relaxed, sun-drenched and refreshingly unhurried, Perth offers a welcome reset from city life. The classics like Rottnest Island, Kings Park, Fremantle, the Swan Valley, deliver every time, but newer waterfront dining precincts and emerging neighbourhoods give returning visitors plenty of fresh ground to cover.
Sapporo, Japan (From $539)
Average flight price: $739 | Cheapest: Thursday, w/c 10 Aug
Sapporo is Japan’s cool-weather summer escape. While the rest of the country bakes, Hokkaido’s capital stays refreshingly mild, perfect for long park strolls, Otaru day trips, and plates of fresh seafood and dairy-rich local cuisine. The Sapporo Summer Festival transforms Odori Park into a sprawling beer garden throughout July and August, with food stalls and live music adding to the relaxed festive atmosphere.
Osaka, Japan (From $390)
Average flight price: $421 | Cheapest: Wednesday, w/c 13 Jul
If Sapporo is the serene escape, Osaka is its loud, delicious counterpart. The city leans into summer with the Tenjin Matsuri, one of Japan’s biggest and most celebrated festivals, alongside riverfront fireworks displays and a street food scene that rarely sleeps.
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (From $116)
Average flight price: $132 | Cheapest: Wednesday, w/c 6 Jul
When you want a great trip without the planning overhead, KL delivers. Singapore’s most accessible getaway is an easy flight away and rewards spontaneous itineraries: the Petronas Twin Towers, Batu Caves and Jalan Alor for the classics; Pavilion KL and rooftop bars for the city energy; shaded malls and cool cafés when the afternoon heat rolls in. It’s a trip that consistently punches above its price tag, and at $116 for the cheapest week, it’s the easiest sell of the summer.
